视觉传达设计专业前身为“装潢设计”专业，始建于1994年，曾分别作为“艺术设计”专业下的“平面设计”视觉传达”等方向，2013年单独设立“视觉传达设计” 专业。

本专业旨在培养演艺、展示、视觉艺术的跨界设计入才，着重培养学生对图形、色彩、文字、空间、影像、装置等视觉要素的感知力和创造力；训练学生运用视觉元素进行跨媒介设计能力；强调科技创新和视觉设计的交叉融通；强调教学与科研并行、 理论与实践并重；强调教学链延伸，积极推进产学研一体化。

本专业通过基础课、技能课、实践课，夯实学生知识体系，提高专业能力和跨媒介综合设计水平。实行“教学－创作－展示”三位一体教学模式，以课题及项目带动创作，提倡 “作品—成品” 的转化。 实行个性化教学方式，引导学生找准个人艺术方向，鼓励实验创造，着力培养具有专业技术、 创新意识和实践能力的视觉传达设计领域专业人才。

注重多学科渗透交叉教育，既注重各学科之间 “横向交叉”又有产学研之间有效渗透。同时，注重国际教学与交流合作，举办学生海外专业工作坊，组织学生积极参与国内外知名大展大赛等。本专业在国际上率先提出“转媒体” 概念及教学方法，多次主办大型国际展览“转媒体艺术展”，首创“杨青青教授与国际知名艺术家联合教学工作坊” 。

视觉传达设计专业在未来发展中，将超越单一艺术学科界限，积极助推创意设计美学、 时尚美学、 戏剧艺术美学等发展。

The Visual Communication major was formerly known as Decorative Design, which was founded in 1994. It has successively been the Graphic design and Visual Communication major under the Art Design Department. In 2013, it incorporated into the Creative School.

The program aims to cultivate cross-border design talents in performing art and exhibitions, focusing on: culti  vating students'perception and creativity in visual elements such as graphics, color, text, space, images and devices; training students to use visual elements in multiple design aspects; and experimenting with the intersection of art and technology. It also emphasizes the combination of research and practice, promoting links between industry and academia.

Through the basic courses, skill courses, and practice courses,the program strengthens the students'knowledge system and improves professional competence. It implements a three­pronged researching-creating-exhibiting teaching mode to encourage students to take their works and transform them into completed projects. It uses individual-focused methods to guide students to find their artistic pursuing.

The program also focuses on International cooperation by inviting experts around the world to give workshops, and organizing students to participate in international festivals.

Professor Yang Qingqing is the first artist to propose the concept of Cross-media with corresponding teaching methods. She has hosted a large-scale international Transfer Media Conference along with artists workshops.

In its future development, the Visual Communication program will place effort on transcend the boundaries of multiple medias, and develop Avant - garde art in design, fashion, and theatre.
